Carolina Panthers Playoff History: Has the $5,700,000,000 Franchise Ever Won a Super Bowl?

The Carolina Panthers managed to win the NFC South at the last moment, setting up at least one playoff game in Carolina. As the Panthers get ready to take on the Los Angeles Rams in a rematch of the Nov. 30 contest, fans are counting the years since the team last saw Week 19. More fans are wondering whether the team has ever reached or won a Super Bowl.

As such, here is a look at everything you need to know about the Panthers’ history in the playoffs.

    Carolina Panthers Super Bowl History

The Carolina Panthers have reached the Super Bowl twice. The most recent time was in 2015, when Cam Newton’s team faced Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. Newton lost the contest to Denver’s No Fly Zone defense by a score of 24-10. It was the first franchise Super Bowl loss by multiple possessions.

Before that, Carolina previously reached the Super Bowl in 2003, when Jake Delhomme faced Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. The Patriots were victorious in a 32-29 thriller in which 37 total points were scored in the fourth quarter.

Overall, Carolina has lost both Super Bowls by a combined score of 56-39. Carolina is 0-2 in the Super Bowl, with both appearances happening in the 21st century.

    Carolina Panthers Playoff History

The Carolina Panthers are celebrating 30 years in the 2025 season, and despite being one of the youngest franchises in the league, Carolina’s history is dotted with playoff appearances.

The $5.7 billion (Forbes) franchise has been to the playoffs eight times, or nearly one-third of the time since the team’s inaugural season. The team’s first playoff appearance came in only the franchise’s second year, reaching the conference championship in 1996. It remains one of only four seasons the team has managed to get that deep in the playoffs.

Carolina has won its division seven times. 2025’s 8-9 record serves as the second time in franchise history that the team has won its division with a losing record (7-8-1 in 2014).
