Cam Skattebo has had a phenomenal breakout season for the New York Giants. However, after dislocating his ankle, the rookie running back had to get an emergency surgery and has not played since late October.
Along with his dislocated ankle, he also suffered an open tibia fracture and ruptured deltoid ligament, and it was so serious that the team had to get him emergency surgery in Philadelphia where the injury happened. The most serious injury he had at that time was an the open fracture, which mean that his bone had already penetrated his skin.
In a video on X, formerly Twitter, Skattebo gave an update on his condition. This was the first time he had spoken up about his injury since that emergency procedure on Oct. 26, revealing that his ankle is doing good and he can even move it around, along with his toes.
“Ankle is good, y’all wanne see?” he told viewers. “Update! Update chat, I can even move my toes and sh*t! I can like, get pretty far, honestly, like if I can just lean forward, I can like, make it touch the ground.”

While he still cannot walk unassisted yet and that the injury is still considered a serious one, this is seen as a positive piece of news as this shows he is not in too much pain and that he is slowly recovering.
Is Cam Skattebo Out Of The Season?
While he looks energetic in his livestreams, Cam Skattebo’s season is already over, given the extent of his injuries. He is expected to return by the start of next season, so there is at least a timeline for his return.
That being said, a source has told ESPN that the overall prognosis for his injuries is quite positive and that no complications are expected. There are still some concerns, however, as there is a chance that his open wound injury might get infected, but they are monitoring that matter closely. For now, his 2025 season is already done.
