Calls Mount From Fans For Vikings To Trade Justin Jefferson As Star WR Misses Out On Pro Bowl Selection

Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson is one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL, but he found no place in the Pro Bowl roster announced on Tuesday. Instead, the NFC receivers chosen included Puka Nacua, George Pickens, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Amon-Ra St. Brown. Moreover, the Vikings are among the three teams that will have no Pro Bowl representation this season.

This season, Jefferson has caught 72 receptions for 917 yards and just two touchdowns. He is 16th in the league in receiving yards and 108 in touchdowns caught.

In the wake of this snub, some fans asked Jefferson to be traded.

“Justin Jefferson should ask for a trade,” one fan commented.

“Jefferson to Vikings Front office: Trade me or get me a damn Qb,” another fan wrote.

“Damn Justin Jefferson really took a hit from bad QB play huh,” one fan added.

“Free Justin Jefferson,” one fan wrote.

“Uhhhh Justin Jefferson please ask to be released JJ owes ur a-s some money Ngl,” one fan wrote.

    “Free Justin Jefferson,” another added.

Jefferson’s production has dipped compared to past years, with lower receiving totals and struggles with quarterback play.

    Justin Jefferson Contract

Justin Jefferson signed a four-year, $140 million extension with the Vikings in June 2024. The deal includes $110 million in guaranteed money and keeps him under contract through the 2028 season. The average value is about $35 million per year, making him one of the richest non-quarterback contracts in NFL history.

The following is the breakdown of his contract year-wise:

    2025: ~$15.32 M

    2026: ~$39.14 M

    2027: ~$43.4 M

    2028: ~$47.39 M

Earning $35 million a year, Jefferson has surpassed top receivers like A.J. Brown and Amon-Ra St. Brown with a better contract. The $110 million guaranteed money is also among the highest for non-QBs.

    A.J. Brown ~$32 M

    Amon-Ra St. Brown ~$30 M

    Tyreek Hill ~$30 M

Jefferson had a much better 2024 season, recording 103 receptions for 1,533 yards and 10 touchdowns. The 2025 season could be the first time he falls short of surpassing the 1,000 yards mark in a season.

If he continues to play like this, it won’t be long before the Vikings start to consider trading him.
