What NFL Teams Have a Bye This Week? Full Breakdown ft. Houston Texans, Minnesota Vikings

Week 6 is here, and a lot of teams have been banged up and ready for some rest. As a new NFL week arrives, it also means that several teams will get to enjoy a bye week, which lets them rest their players and get their injured players more time to recover. While they still do have practices and workouts, bye weeks take some load off players and let them relax a bit.

For this week, there will be two teams that will be taking a bye week break. Both teams are coming off big wins, and while a bye week would put a damper on their momentum, it would still be a welcome one for players.

NFL Teams With a Bye For Week 6

    Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings are back in the US after a two-game stint abroad, getting defeated 21-24 by the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin, Ireland but then bouncing back, beating the Cleveland Browns 21-17 in London. After their international trip, a bye week should be welcome as it would finally allow their players to rest.

Several Vikings players, such as offensive tackle Brian O’Neil and starting quarterback JJ McCarthy are currently out, with backup quarterback Carson Wentz being questionable, which means that this bye week could not come at a better time for the Vikings, which are quite battered by injuries.

Their next game will be on October 19, and they will be facing the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles. As this tough challenge looms, quarterback JJ McCarthy is already working to return from his knee injury, especially as backup Carson Wentz is also dealing with an injured shoulder.

    Houston Texans

Meanwhile, the Houston Texans have been hot the last two weeks, with dominant wins over the Baltimore Ravens and the Tennessee Titans, though they did start the 2025 season with an 0-3 record. That momentum could have been slowed down by the bye week, though it may also get them rested enough ahead of that Oct. 21 showdown against the Seattle Seahawks.

Much like the Minnesota Vikings, the Houston Texans are also dealing with some injuries, though not as severe. Denico Autry, Foley Fatukasi and Jaylen Reed all missed the Week 5 showdown against the struggling Baltimore Ravens, while Harrison Bryant and Nico Collins were also injured.

With their momentum a bit stalled, the Texans will at least be rested ahead of their showdown against the Seahawks, and will have their injured players more time to heal.
