It is finally Week 9, with the NFL loaded with marquee matchups. With that, some teams will also be getting a much needed bye week for Week 9, with this being a good time for these teams to rest and relax their players and allow their injured players more time to heal themselves up.
This week, four teams are scheduled to have their bye week break, including a couple of contenders and two teams that have been struggling so far. The break would be a welcome one, especially for the teams that are currently riddled with injuries.
NFL Teams on Bye Week 9
Philadelphia Eagles
The bye week comes just in time for Philly, as superstar running back Saquon Barkley suffered a groin injury on Week 8 in a win against his former team, the New York Giants. The bye week would give him more time to heal up, along with other injured stars like AJ Brown and Adoree’ Jackson.
For fantasy replacements, Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. should be a good pickup for those who have Saquon Barkley, especially with their rookie RB Cam Skattebo injured.
Cleveland Browns
The Browns have been struggling this season, with only two wins so far and being demolished in a one-sided game against the New England Patriots. Getting the bye could noy have come at a better time as the team tries to regroup.
For the Browns, Edge Myles Garrett is their best player so far this season, and with him not playing this week, Fantasy managers would have to compensate for much better defenses with teams like the Chargers, Rams or Bills.
New York Jets
In a surprising twist, the New York Jets actually won a game, beating the Cincinnati Bengals by just one point. The bye week may allow them to rest, but this should dampen their momentum for a bit.
For Fantasy, it would be best to drop their defense, as they still allowed the Bengals to score 38 in that win. Better defenses like the Chargers, Rams or Bills are suggested replacements.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers are probably one of the most banged up teams right now, along with the Minnesota Vikings and the San Francisco 49ers, so getting the bye for Week 9 is timely. That being said, getting replacements for Baker Mayfield might be tough, but there are some injured quarterbacks expected to come back on Week 9, the biggest name being Lamar Jackson, who has been out for months.
