After the New England Patriots clinched the AFC East division this year following the Buffalo Bills’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles this past week, it leaves the Bills as the No. 5, 6, or 7 seed entering the NFL playoffs.
Week 18 has to play out, but the Bills know that they will be one of the three AFC wildcard teams and will play a road game in the first round of the playoffs. That being said, they don’t really have much to play for except for some momentum, incentives being met, and some personal milestones.
With no chance of clinching a spot lower than the five seed, the Bills could rest starters in its regular season finale against the New York Jets this Sunday.
Is Josh Allen Playing vs New York This Week?
As of right now, there is no definitive answer on whether or not Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen will play in the Buffalo Bills season finale. For what it’s worth, he won’t be participating in the Bills’ walk-through practice today.
Joining him on the sidelines today was safety Jordan Poyer, linebacker Terrel Bernard, edge rusher Joey Bosa, and defensive tackle Daquan Jones. Tight end Dalton Kincaid was a limited participant.

Though rest and being healthy for the playoffs is the priority, there are a few storylines to follow on whether or not the Bills rest their starter or not. Running back James Cook is in good position to win the rushing title and Allen wants to keep his streak alive for most consecutive starts.
As of Wednesday afternoon, ESPN.com has the Bills at a 90% chance to win and have them as seven point favorites heading into Sunday’s game against the Jets.
