“Thought Kevin Stefanski Hated Shedeur Sanders”: Fans React As Browns Bench Dillon Gabriel Despite Return From Concussion Protocol

Cleveland Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski, ahead of their Sunday game against the San Francisco 49ers, confirmed that quarterback Shedeur Sanders is slated to start the fixture ahead of Dillon Gabriel.

While Dillon Gabriel did suffer a head injury resulting in a concussion during the Browns’ 23-16 loss against the Ravens in week 11, he is reportedly cleared as per the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Stefanski’s preference to play Shedeur over Gabriel saw a lot of fans react on X, writing:

“Bruh I thought Kevin [Stefanski] hated Shedeur”, stated a fan.

“ik he hated having to say this. dudes a fucking clown”, said a fan.

“It feels like he’s reading a ransom note. He’s clearly been directed to play Shedeur”, remarked a fan.

“The pain in his eyes when he said it, Haslam 100% said you’re fired if you try to start Gabriel “, commented a fan.

“He mad af”, said another fan.

“This was the right choice, it would have been insane if they went back to Gabriel after that win”, noted a fan.

“Haha say goodbye to that losing culture. Time for a Shedeur overhaul”, stated another fan.

“ever thought I ‘d say this but THANK YOU COACH STEFANSKI. LETS GO”, commented another fan.

Head Coach Stefanski, during his press conference while confirming Shedeur’s starting spot, noted that a quarterback’s top responsibility is to win, while also acknowledging Sanders’s first NFL win as a starter against the Raiders in week 12.

Stefanski added that improvement is the next priority, especially for young quarterbacks like Shedeur, and that will be the team’s focus moving forward.

Shedeur’s First Starter Win Earns A Shoutout From President Trump

Shedeur was instrumental in the Browns’ 24-10 victory against the Las Vegas Raiders, so much so that it prompted US President Donald Trump to post a congratulatory message after Shedeur’s first NFL win as a starter.

Trump has always been an admirer of both Shedeur and his father, Deion, as he called out NFL teams “stupid” for not picking Shedeur earlier in the draft.

Shedeur’s meteoric rise to being the Browns’ starting quarterback stemmed from an initial trade involving veteran quarterback Joe Flacco and the Bengals earlier this season, bumping him up to second in the depth chart after being the third-string quarterback at the start of the season.

With Gabriel’s injury, he got his first start of the season against the Raiders, scoring a touchdown while running for 209 yards. He also completed 11 passes in that game, including a 50-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Isiah Bond.
