Brandon Aiyuk’s Camp Drops Blunt 2-Word Message, Days After 49ers WR Goes AWOL

Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk’s saga with the San Francisco 49ers has taken another dramatic turn.

Shortly after the 49ers made the decision to void Aiyuk’s guaranteed money from his 2026 contract, the wide receiver’s brand page delivered a stark two-word declaration, adding fuel to Brandon’s potential split with the 49ers.

Aiyuk’s camp responded to the void, writing:

    “WE GONE!!”

Aiyuk has also reportedly informed the NFL Players Association that he would not contest this voiding through a formal grievance.

This debacle started when Aiyuk suffered a severe knee injury, which included a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus back in October 2024, which sidelined him for the remainder of that season and all of 2025 so far.

Aiyuk subsequently spent the entire 2025 season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. However, it’s his alleged radio silence following the injury that has been the issue.

According to reports from within the organization, the 49ers have become increasingly frustrated with Aiyuk’s lack of communication, as he’s been reportedly absent from games, team meetings, and rehabilitation updates, cutting off any meaningful contact with the coaching staff or front office.

The 49ers since then have voided his guaranteed money, citing breaches of his contractual duties.

49’ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Remains Hopeful About Aiyuk’s Potential Return

Meanwhile, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has tried to maintain some optimism, suggesting Aiyuk could still return this season.

Shanahan isn’t ready to completely close the chapter on Aiyuk, as while speaking about the possibility of Aiyuk and his relationship with the 49ers, the coach made it clear the door is still open.

He explained that whatever has gone down so far doesn’t necessarily dictate what comes next, and that he’d still like to see Aiyuk remain with the team.

“What happened in July, in my opinion, doesn’t have anything to do with the future. When it comes to the future of this, I would love for BA to be here,”  Shanahan stated.

I would love for him to get healthy and get back to really helping us out and being a part of this team. I still hold out hope that he can get there, but he obviously hasn’t gotten there yet,” He further explained.

The 2024 season was the last time Aiyuk was seen on the field, playing just seven games with 25 catches for 374 yards and zero touchdowns before the injury ended his year.
