Just days after his $27 million guaranteed contract with the San Francisco 49ers was voided, Brandon Aiyuk raised a lot of eyebrows as he was seen splurging a lot of money. In a video taken on Halloween, just weeks before the Niners voided the guaranteed money in his contract, the wide receiver was seen shopping for a new chain.
Brandon Aiyuk recently uploaded a video of him going jewelry shopping back on Halloween:
Knowing his contract has been voided, this doesn’t seem like a very smart way in investing your money 😅pic.twitter.com/Na8Pm28XYt

The chain itself looked expensive, as it was encrusted with jewellery and featured a massive “B” hanging on the chain. This was taken before the contract was voided, though in hindsight, this still raised eyebrows as the wide receiver had been living lavishly, not knowing his contract would soon be voided.
What was voided was Aiyuk’s guaranteed money for 2026, not what he would be getting for this season. The team has stated that this was because the absences by Aiyuk meant that he had failed to fulfil his contractual obligations, thus getting part of his salary voided by the team.
In August 2024, Brandon Aiyuk signed a contract extension with the Niners worth $120 million. However, just months later, in October 2024, he would tear his ACL and MCL, ending his 2024 season and missing most of the 2025 season.
San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Kyle Shanahan Comments On Brandon Aiyuk Contract Situation
Soon after the contract was voided, Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan addressed the situation while speaking with reporters, stating that his relationship with Brandon Aiyuk remains the same.
“And to me, the contract stuff and guarantees and things like that is really irrelevant to my relationship with the player and my relationship with our team and what we’re trying to do this year. I know I went through that stuff and talked to him a lot about it back in July,” he said. “But since July, it’s been all about this season and hoping he would get healthy, and he’s been working to get healthy, and I’ve been waiting for him to come back when he’s healthy.”
With his contract voided, his future with the team remains uncertain, as it is very possible that he would not be returning in 2026 despite having a breakout year in 2022 with the 49ers. For now, he has not yet been medically cleared to play, meaning it is likely that he would miss the 2025 season as well.
