It’s a new era of Wisconsin football in 2023 but there is plenty leftover from the old smash-mouth football regime to lean heavily in one direction this fall. Braelon Allen offers a potential value pick at running back with an incredibly high floor.

Braelon Allen made his name known as a teenager, truly. At just 17 years old, Allen broke into the Wisconsin starting lineup and hasn’t looked back.
He’s run for over 1,200 yards in each of his first two seasons and has scored 23 touchdowns in that time. Just last season, he showcased his ability through the air as well, and that should do him wonders as the new offensive system is installed in Madison.

Some college fantasy football managers may be skeptical, but Allen has proven to be a workhorse and capable of three-down responsibilities during his brief time in college to date. Despite the Phil Longo system being installed under new head coach Luke Fickell, you can bet there will be plenty of opportunities for Allen in 2023.
After all, just last season at North Carolina, the Tar Heels ran the rock a combined 320 with their running backs, neither of which were as talented as Allen. Running backs also hauled in a combined 53 receptions in Longo’s system last year as well, proving to be a vital aspect of this system.
Tanner Mordecai’s ceiling is high while representing a particularly volatile floor. Allen, on the other hand, has a high floor and loftier ceiling. Grab him in your drafts when you can.
Allen’s Dominant 2021-2022 seasons
Allen is a massive man at 6’2″ and 240 pounds. Yet, he carries his weight around incredibly well and moves like a much nimbler back. He’ll pound the ball in between the tackles but also explode outside for massive gains.
He’s scored a touchdown on runs of over 70 yards in each of the past two seasons, proving his breakaway ability, and reached a career-long rush of 96 yards a season ago.
Allen can defeat defenders at every level and gives you a great option as a fantasy manager with his potential three-down rushing and receiving ability.
