Should I Start Bam Knight or Michael Carter In Week 7? Fantasy Matchups And RB Outlooks Explored

The Arizona Cardinals are in a conundrum over their running back situation, especially with both James Conner and Trey Benson out with injuries. Now, Bam Knight and Michael Carter have been taking turns in that position, and this has several Fantasy managers scratching their heads on who they should start between the two.

Right now, Bam Knight is the one who will be getting the starting nod, but Michael Carter is also expected to sub in during their Week 7 showdown against the Green Bay Packers. This situation has many Fantasy managers wondering who to start?

    Bam Knight Outlook

With Bam Knight receiving the starting nod, it is pretty obvious that he is the favorite in the head-to-head between the two Cardinals running backs. According to USA Today, he has received more carries and had played in more snaps than Carter, with him also handling the goal-line and short-yardage work at practices.

He has had 54 yards in 11 carries and even scored one touchdown so far, getting his first start of the year during Week 6. So far, Knight has been very dependable, though he only averages 3.0 yards per carry this season as his playing time had been limited. Now that he is a starter, however, expect that average to go up.

    Michael Carter Outlook

Michael Carter has also been very reliable for the Arizona Cardinals, as the team prefers him as their passing-down option, even though he is playing less snaps than Knight. He is largely seen as the running back that could fill what Knight had been lacking, even though the other Cards running back has played more snaps and received the starter nod.

He was still productive on that Week 6 loss against the Indianapolis Colts, getting 34 rushing yards for 11 carries, and even getting a 20-yard reception and a touchdown. His numbers are still lacking, but like Knight, this might improve soon as he receives even more playing time.

    Verdict

While Michael Carter is more consistent and is better at some aspects, there is a reason why the Arizona Cardinals have chosen to start Bam Knight and have him play in more snaps. He also has more guaranteed touches, giving Fantasy managers even more reason to pick him up or keep him as their starter while the other Arizona running backs are dealing with injuries.
