Baker Mayfield Injury Update: What Fantasy Owners Need to Know About Buccaneers QB Status Ahead of Week 14

As the Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue their playoff push, the team is awaiting some news on whether QB1 Baker Mayfield will continue playing hurt as he deals with a shoulder injury. The team has been stricken by injuries all year, but has remained a contender to make it to the playoffs, and losing their quarterback could have been a big blow.

He was instrumental in that 20-17 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Monday, even though he has been dealing with that injured shoulder. The week before, he did not practice on Wednesday, but soon practiced on Thursday and Friday. This soon led to the team winning against Arizona. They will take on the New Orleans Saints in Week 14 at home, but will Mayfield be healthy enough to play?

    Baker Mayfield Injury Update

Mayfield has been suffering from an AC joint sprain on his non-throwing shoulder, but it was deemed low-grade, and he was still able to play. After playing while hurt on Sunday, Mayfield was back on the field for team practice on Wednesday, and he was even able to get two of his favorite targets back from injury: Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan.

Is Baker Mayfield Playing This Week?

He fully practiced on Wednesday, which means that it is more than likely he will be playing against the struggling New Orleans Saints, especially as they need him in top condition as they continue to push to get to the playoffs.

    Baker Mayfield Fantasy Outlook

It is looking good for Baker Mayfield, and fantasy managers should not be worried about the quarterback not being able to put in the numbers this week. There is still a possibility that he may be playing hurt this week as well, but as that win over the Arizona Cardinals has shown, an injured shoulder did little in slowing him down, especially as he has been improving over the last few days.

Should I Start Baker Mayfield or Matthew Stafford This Week?

Baker Mayfield may be back and more than likely playing in Week 14, but Matthew Stafford has been having an MVP caliber season right now and will be leading the Los Angeles Rams to the playoffs. It should also be noted that Mayfield may be playing hurt, so Stafford should be the safer bet for Week 14.
