Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Wilson’s Wife Sophia Shares Heartwarming Message as Couple Welcomes First Child

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Wilson and his wife, Sophia, recently shared joyful news as they welcomed their first child. The couple, who met as student-athletes at Stanford, have been together since 2019.

Their relationship grew stronger over the years, leading to an engagement in mid-2024 and a wedding earlier this year. Now, their family has grown with the arrival of their daughter, a moment that both have described as deeply meaningful.

The couple announced the birth in early September, introducing their baby girl to the world with warm social media posts. Wilson and Sophia revealed her name as Gianna Capri Wilson in separate Instagram posts.

Sophia also posted several videos and pictures of her newborn on Instagram. In some of the videos, Gianna can be seen smiling and sleeping as she gets embraced by her mom and dad. Sophia wrote a heartfelt note in both posts.

“all the little details I never want to forget 🥹🧡” She wrote in her latest POST.

Michael Wilson has quickly become an important part of the Arizona Cardinals’ offense. Drafted in 2023 after a standout but injury-affected career at Stanford, he proved himself as a reliable target during his rookie season.

His ability to stretch the field and deliver in key moments has given the Cardinals reason to trust him as part of their future.

How Did Michael Wilson Support Sophia During the 2024 Olympics?

Sophia Wilson is a star in her own right. A forward for the U.S. Women’s National Team and Portland Thorns FC, she helped the U.S. win Olympic gold in Paris 2024. At the time, Wilson was gearing up for his second season with the Cardinals.

While he wanted to be in Paris to support Sophia, Wilson said he would’ve asked the organization for a leave if he were a veteran. Despite that, he remained glued to the television to watch her. And when he was on the field, practicing with the team, Wilson was getting updates from the sidelines.

Sophia had a brilliant campaign in Paris, scoring two goals against Germany in a 4-1 win in the group stage. She scored the only goal for Team USA in the semifinals against Germany. Team USA closed the campaign with a gold medal win against Brazil.

“I don’t think anyone’s shocked,” Wilson told espn. “It’s not like she was some underrated player that took the world by storm. She’d been in the national team [program] since she was 16. Now she’s kind of coming in her own and realizing, like fulfilling the prophecy.”

Wilson stated that he was very proud of all her accomplishments as a soccer player.
