The Minnesota Vikings waived wide receiver Adam Thielen today after the receiver’s request following a limited role on the team.
Thielen was traded to the Vikings this offseason after spending the last two seasons with the Carolina Panthers. Thielen appeared in 11 games for the Vikings this season and recorded eight receptions for 69 yards on 18 total targets this season.
With Thielen being released and with it being this late into the season, a team may be interested in signing him for receiver depth, or maybe during the postseason. Let’s take a look at five teams that could sign Thielen.

5 Teams That Could Take a Look at Adam Thielen
-Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens haven’t had a strong wide receiver corps in awhile. Not saying that the Ravens would have a great group by signing Thielen, but Lamar Jackson needs more targets if the Ravens were to make a deep run. DeAndre Hopkins has has the third-most receiving yards on the team, a sign their group struggles.
-Carolina Panthers
Aside from rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, the Carolina Panthers don’t have threats at the wide receiver position. Thielen spent the last two seasons prior with Carolina and they traded him to the Vikings this offseason to get some trade value in return. He could step in us WR2 or WR3 with McMillan being the main target.
-Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers have had one of the weaker WR groups this season. Outside of DK Metcalf, there isn’t much production. Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson, the Steelers’ WR2 and WR3, have a combined 444 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns. Aaron Rodgers needs more help at the wide receiver position in order for the Steelers’ offense to be more effective.
-Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars keep having injury after injury at wide receiver. After Brian Thomas was sidelined for a bit with an ankle injury, Parker Washington left yesterday’s game with a hip injury. Jakobi Meyers has been a great addition for them, and adding Thielen could maybe give them a good veteran in the room.
-Cleveland Browns
This one is a wildcard. Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski was the Vikings’ quarterback coach and offensive coordinator for awhile while Thielen was there. Maybe adding Thielen and his leadership can help out a struggling Browns’ offense.
