Aaron Rodgers or Matthew Stafford: Who Should I Start In Fantasy Football Week 7?

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and LA Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford are two of the oldest QBs in the NFL. Despite that, both have led their teams to strong starts and are expected to compete in the playoffs later in the season. The Steelers are off to a 4-1 start and are set to play the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday. The Rams are 4-2 and are set to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Both quarterbacks are expected to continue to perform well, but that does not mean they are equal fantasy options. Here is a look at which one you should start in Week 7 of the fantasy football season.

Should You Start Aaron Rodgers or Matthew Stafford in Week 7 of Fantasy Football?

A few years ago, Matthew Stafford and Aaron Rodgers were viewed as two of the top QBs in the league. While Stafford is still viewed as a top QB, Rodgers is viewed as a mid-level QB at best by most analysts at this point in his career. Despite that, both have performed at a high level this season.

However, despite the strong performance from Rodgers and the Steelers, Stafford is still the better fantasy option. According to Fantasy Pros, Stafford is the No. 10-ranked QB in total fantasy points this season, and No. 16-ranked in fantasy points per game. Conversely, Rodgers is No. 23-ranked in both categories. As a result, Stafford has been the better fantasy option this season and should continue to be so.

However, there is another factor to consider, and that is the quality of the opponent. The Rams are up against the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team that is 4-2 to start the season. The Jaguars have emerged as a strong contender in the AFC and could be a difficult matchup for Stafford and the Rams.

Conversely, the Steelers are going against a Bengals team that is known for having a weak defense. As a result, Rodgers could thrive on Thursday.

The safe option for fantasy owners is to start Stafford. He is the more consistent player. However, if you believe the Jaguars could give the Rams trouble, than Rodgers should provide a safe and strong performance on Sunday.
