Yahoo Sports’ Sam Farmer just dropped his latest mock draft, and there are some interesting picks, to say the least. Farmer had the consensus top three, with Cam Ward going at one to the Titans, Abdul Carter at two to the Browns, and the Giants selecting Travis Hunter at three.
From there, Farmer has some interesting selections, starting with Jalon Walker at four and Shedeur Sanders still going to the Raiders despite having signed Geno Smith. However, one of the most intriguing picks was where Ohio State left tackle Josh Simmons landed.

Yahoo Sports Mock Draft Draft: Bears Select Josh Simmons
With the 10th overall pick, Farmer had the Chicago Bears select Simmons, a left tackle out of Ohio State University.
This pick is interesting for a multitude of reasons. In his mock mockery, Farmer made the point that Caleb Williams was sacked 68 times last year and that the Bears need to protect him, but Chicago has already addressed the offensive line a lot this offseason.
So far this offseason, the Bears have already made two trades for offensive linemen. They traded for four-time all-pro Joe Thuney from the Kansas City Chiefs and guard Jonah Jackson from the Los Angeles Rams.
In NFL Free Agency, the Bears also signed center Drew Dahlman from the Falcons. While the Bears could still use some tackle help, they also drafted Braxton Jones and Darnell Wright in the last three years.
Another reason this pick doesn’t make a ton of sense for the Bears is Josh Simmons is fresh off of a season-ending injury. Simmons tore his patellar tendon last season for Ohio State, and it’s up in the air whether he’ll be healthy in time for the 2025 NFL season.

For the Bears to invest in an injured tackle that isn’t exactly the biggest position of need in the top ten does not make a lot of sense to me, and I expect them to go in another direction come draft day.
