The 2025 NFL Draft is just a day away, and the No. 1 pick to the Tennessee Titans is all but official — Miami quarterback Cam Ward.
Ward, a -20000 favorite to go No. 1 overall, according to DraftKings Sportsbook, will head to the Titans after two years at Incarnate Word, two at Washington State and one at Miami, where he threw for 18,137 yards, 158 touchdowns and 37 interceptions, adding 469 yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground.

Cam Ward Could Be First to Wear Warren Moon’s Retired No. 1
Ward, who received both the Davey O’Brien and Manning Awards, as well as ACC Player of the Year, Consensus All-American, and First-Team All-ACC honors in 2024, rocked a No. 1 jersey at his last two stops, wearing No. 7 at Incarnate Word and in high school.
But that number is retired by the Tennessee Titans, honoring legendary quarterback Warren Moon, who played ten years for the Houston Oilers, earning six Pro Bowl nods, the 1989 NFL Man of the Year Award, the 1990 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award and leading the NFL in passing yards twice (1990, 1991) and touchdowns once (1990) during his tenure. He led the team to the playoffs seven times, winning three playoff games.
In an interview with PaulKuharsky.com, Moon, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, said he’d consider passing the torch to the young gun.
“I’m thinking about it,” Moon told Titans reporter Paul Kuharsky.
Ward, who rocked a chain with the number on it at Miami’s March 24 Pro Day, said he’s not worried about whether or not he’ll get the number, depending on what team he ends up on.
“One right now, but we’ll see when I am in the league,” he said in a TikTok interview. “It just depends on what team I go to, what number they got. So we’re hoping to stay with one. If not, I’ll just switch my number.”

Unretiring a number, while not common, is not unheard of. Most recently, the New York Giants unretired No. 1 for 2024 sixth overall pick Malik Nabers, with the permission of Hall of Famer Ray Flaherty’s family. Flaherty’s number was the first ever retired in pro football.
