Ex NFL WR Takes Brutal Jab at Jimmy Kimmel After Abrupt ABC Firing Over Recent Charlie Kirk Statement

Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel was unexpectedly fired this week after comments he made on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” following the murder of political commentator Charlie Kirk. In his opening monologue, Kimmel spoke about Donald Trump and the MAGA movement, trying to characterize Kirk’s killer as anyone other than one of them to score political points.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Jimmy Kimmel said.

This led to Kimmel’s show being taken off the air indefinitely, leading to speculation that he has been fired completely by ABC. His firing has been divisive on social media, with many saying it goes against the freedom of speech mantra of the United States. However, others have supported the move by ABC. On Wednesday, former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown took a jab at Jimmy Kimmel on X.

“Jimmy Kimmel’s favorite vendor…” Antonio Brown wrote.

Nexstar President Condemns Jimmy Kimmel’s Comments

Following Jimmy Kimmel’s comments, an ABC spokesperson spoke to CBS News and released a short statement:

“Jimmy Kimmel Live will be pre-empted indefinitely.”

Kimmel has not yet commented on his firing. However, media giant Nexstar made a news release after the firing and announced it would not broadcast Kimmel’s show on any of its stations because of his comments.

“Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located,” Nexstar president Andrew Alford said.

The full ramifications of Jimmy Kimmel’s comments are yet to be seen. Kimmel was one of the longest-running talk show hosts in the United States. He was very popular and brought solid ratings to ABC for many years. So, it remains to be seen if ABC will bring his show back after the dust has settled on the Charlie Kirk situation. However, that could take some time, given his comments have bled into other media circles, including sports, based on Antonio Brown’s comments.
