After a shocking fall in the 2025 NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders was taken by the Cleveland Browns with the 144th overall choice in the fifth round.
Despite finally being drafted by the Cleveland Browns, there are plenty of people who are upset with the league.

Warren Moon Offers Candid Advice to Shedeur Sanders About Playing Quarterback
NFL Hall of Famer Warren Moon recently shared some honest words of encouragement for Sanders on the “Up & Adams Show.” Moon told Shedeur Sanders he needs to carry himself like a quarterback, not a cornerback. Here’s what sparked the comment.
Warren Moon’s advice to Shedeur Sanders:
“You can’t act like a cornerback when you’re playing quarterback. Quarterback is a humble position. You’ve got to be respectful… that’s what he has to understand.”@heykayadams | @WMoon1 pic.twitter.com/1Kmnj6RoAO

“You can’t act like a cornerback when you’re playing quarterback,” Moon said to Kay Adams on the show. “Quarterback is a humble position. You’ve got to be respectful… that’s what he has to understand.”
While some would say Sanders dropped in the draft because of his confidence, teams wanted to humble him before drafting him. He’s been the center of attention since being in college. However, he’s delivered on the field when he’s needed too. Hopefully this is something that starts a fire in him and continues to be his authentic self.
Prior to drafting Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Browns drafted Oregon’s signal-caller, Dillon Gabriel. At that point, it seemed bleak that the Browns would draft Sanders; however, destiny would see it be otherwise. The Browns traded up into the fifth round to take their second quarterback of the draft in Sanders.
Joe Flacco, Sanders, or Gabriel will ultimately be the starting quarterback for the 2025 NFL season. However, it remains to be seen who will ultimately win that starting job. It is expected to be an intense showdown between two hungry rookies and one Super Bowl-winning veteran on becoming the next signal-caller in Cleveland.

Despite not being taken until the fifth round, Sanders still has a great opportunity to be a starting-caliber quarterback in the NFL. The advice he’s gotten from NFL legends, such as Moon, is something Sanders should follow and listen to a great deal. The ball is now in Sanders’ court; it’s up to him to show what he’ll do with it.
