NFL Draft Rumors: Scouts Link Ashton Jeanty to One Particular Team and $40M RB’s Success

Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty is one of the best prospects in this year’s NFL Draft.

The only question is, where will he end up?

Could Ashton Jeanty Get Drafted By the Dallas Cowboys?

Fox Sports insiders Dave Helman and Ben Arthur recently chatted about where Jeanty could get drafted in this class.

That led to Helman saying this: “Honestly, maybe Dallas…If (Jeanty) really falls all the way to 12, it’s hard for me to imagine him getting past that point.”

If the Cowboys were able to draft an electrifying college player like Jeanty, that might be all they need to contend in their first season with new head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

The offense is missing an extra piece in the backfield. That has been the case ever since Tony Pollard left in free agency a few seasons ago for the Tennessee Titans.

Jeanty Could Add An Exciting Element to the Offense in Dallas

If his run at Boise State wasn’t any indication, the Maxwell and Doak Walker Award winner was one of the best college football running backs in history.

A year after rushing for over 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns, he completely blew those numbers away. The Jacksonville native rushed for over 2,600 yards on the ground and 29 touchdowns in 2025. After averaging 6.1 yards per rush two seasons ago, he averaged 7.0 yards per rush in 2024.

Whenever he touches the ball, he has the chance to take it the distance from any point on the field. Whether it is a zone handoff, a pitch, or even a screen pass, he is one of the true home run threats in this draft class.

If he were to be added to an offense that includes All-Pro quarterback Dak Prescott, All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and Pro Bowl tight end Jake Ferguson, that could be very scary for any opposing defense. Much like Ezekiel Elliott when he played in Dallas, Jeanty could become one of the NFL’s best and eventually be paid like it.

Jerry Jones would be unwise to let Jeanty slip through his fingers if he had him at No. 12. If Dallas elects not to take him, it could be the biggest mistake of their offseason, which might actually be saying a lot.
