While appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, NFL draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah said he views Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter as the best player in the upcoming draft.
Should the Titans Select Abdul Carter Over a Quarterback?
“For me, Abdul Carter is the best player in the draft — a blue player, elite player, someone who is going to step in and be pro bowler [right away] — that is what I heard,” Jeremiah said. “To me, Carter, at a premier position, I would argue the second most important position on the field — to have a guy at that level of a talent — I would be all in on that.”
Going into each draft class, the conversation is Quarterback A vs. Quarterback B — which signal-caller should be the first player taken off the board?
This year, the conversation is around whether Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward should go first overall.
However, this quarterback draft class is filled with uncertainty as there is no surefire prospect at the position.
It is a tough draft class to navigate through at that position, especially if you are one of the teams at the top of the draft board that needs to fill that void.
The Tennessee Titans are one of those teams — slated with the No. 1 overall pick — but would they be advised to take a player with guaranteed production over a QB who could be the answer?
There is an argument for Tennessee to take Carter or Travis Hunter, but as Jeremiah stated, a pass rusher is a premier position, and it is harder to land a superstar edge rusher than a receiver/cornerback.

If the Titans don’t love Sanders or Ward, they should not feel inclined to take one of those players.
This would be a great spot to trade back and accumulate more draft capital and still possibly land Carter two or three picks later.
