Mel Kiper’s Latest NFL Mock Draft Gets Reviewed

Travis Hunter to the Cleveland Browns at No. 2

The Cleveland Browns select the second overall pick in the draft. With just over two weeks until the NFL draft, the Browns are widely projected to choose one of Hunter, Abdul Carter, or Shedeur Sanders. Still, ESPN’s Adam Schefter indicated Monday that Hunter is “more likely” to be selected.

Kiper believes the same thing, as he mocked Hunter with the second pick to the Browns. The seasoned draft analyst referred to Hunter as a “special prospect” and suggested that his two-way ability could enable Cleveland to select his top-rated prospect in the 2025 NFL draft class.

New Orleans Saints Could be a Shedeur Sanders Landing Spot

Kiper added that he is “not ruling out” the New York Giants picking Sanders with the third overall pick. The Colorado product has few apparent landing spots if the Giants do not choose Sanders.

The New Orleans Saints could be one, and Kiper likes letting his best quarterback prospect in this year’s class develop for a season behind 34-year-old Derek Carr.

Jaxson Dart Could Land in the Los Angeles Rams

He is still a first-round pick. Kiper predicts the Los Angeles Rams will pick the Ole Miss quarterback 26th overall. That is 17 spots lower than Dart’s landing spot in Kiper’s third mock draft, with the Saints at No. 9.

Kiper’s latest mock draft appears to provide a more accurate picture of Dart’s possible draft range. It also reminds us that if one quarterback, such as Sanders, is drafted later than expected, it might have ramifications for the entire position.

There aren’t many first-round quarterback spots outside of the top 10 picks.

Mel Kiper Jr.’s 4.0 mock draft does more than just provide insight into team strategy; it also stimulates continuing debates about positional value, player fit, and draft philosophy.
