What Does Dylan Raiola’s Tattoo Say About His Vision for Nebraska Football and Life?

Ortega has worked with a host of professional athletes in the past, including stars from both the NFL and the NBA, working on tattoos for the Las Vegas Raiders and former Michigan star Max Crossby, NFL icon Ja Morant, and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Ceedee Lamb.

In the video, Ortega unveiled the process behind Raiola’s most recent piece, a faith-inspired design with the Quarterback getting the cross permanently inked on the front of his chest, a call to his faith and religious beliefs.

On a recent Instagram story, the Nebraska signal-caller explained the deep meaning behind every part of his most recent tattoo, breaking down each piece individually.

“Lion, God’s command and power on my life,” Raiola explained, the quarterback’s Christian faith has shaped his decisions over most of his career, including his decision to play for Nebraska in the first place, with recruitment offers lined up from National title contenders Georgia.

“I’ll tell you what changed in his heart,” Dominic Raiola, Dylan’s father, explained. “He knew he had a different kind of talent. He told us, ‘God has bigger plans for me than just going to Georgia, and being the next five-star and being in line to win the national title. God has different plans for me.’ And those plans were to go to Nebraska and do something hard.”

Raiola has also claimed in the past that the only reason he plays football is his faith in God, which is showcased on his newest tattoo.

“The reason why I play this game, first of all, is that I play for God. My religion is first in everything I do. Without God, I wouldn’t be able to do anything I do now. He’s gifted me with talents and abilities. I think if I don’t use them in the correct way, that’s not honoring God. That’s my first and foremost ‘why,’” the quarterback said in 2022.

The Cornhuskers and Raiola will begin their path towards potential glory on August 28 when they take on the Cincinnati Bearcats in Kansas City, MO at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs.

They’ll have several big-time matchups, including showdowns against Michigan, Maryland, Minnesota, USC, UCLA, Penn State, and rival Iowa.
