Neal Brown’s Salary, Contract, Net Worth, and More

Neal Brown has seen success at West Virginia which has led to a contract extension after two seasons, but what does his current agreement look like?

The West Virginia Mountaineers have been a team on the rise since Neal Brown took over as head coach in 2019. That led to a contract extension for Brown.

What did he get with the new contract? Let’s investigate what his original contract was, how much more he got with the extension, and what his estimated net worth is.

Neal Brown’s Salary and Contract in 2023

The Mountaineers’ program hired Brown as their head coach in January 2019 as he agreed to a six-year, $19 million agreement with the school that lasted through the 2024 season.

His salary through the first two seasons at West Virginia was in the range of $3 million, with 2020 seeing a slight dip to $2.9 million due to the Covid-19 pandemic reductions in pay.

According to MetroNews, Brown’s deal had multiple incentives, including the following:

    • $150,000 for winning the Big 12 Title
    • $100,000 for appearing in the Big 12 Title Game
    • $300,000 for winning the national title
    • $250,000 for appearing in the national title game
    • $200,000 for a national title semi-final win
    • $100,000 for winning national coach of the year
    • $50,000 for winning Big 12 Coach of the Year

Because of the improvements shown with the Mountaineers, Brown earned a contract extension in 2021. His new contract saw the contract last through the 2026 season with two more years added on.

The new base salary was bumped up to $4 million in 2023 from $3.5 million in 2022. Each season has increased until 2026 where he will receive $4.4 million for the 2026 season.

Win bonuses are also included starting at eight wins for $100,000 and going up to 12 wins at $200,000.

His buyout includes him getting 100 percent of his salary if he is fired before December 31, 2024. If he is fired between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2026, he will be owed 85 percent of his remaining agreement.

    Neal Brown’s Net Worth

While not much is known about Brown’s net worth, it is estimated to be around $4 million due to the structure of his contract plus any potential bonuses he received in the past. More than likely that will continue to be around the range of his net worth unless West Virginia goes on a big run.

He will see increases as his contract has his base salary going up by about $100,000, so he should receive a bump in his net worth in the next few years.
