NC State Football Transfer Portal Tracker: Full List Of Players Leaving Dave Doeren’s Squad

Despite NC State football Athletic Director Boo Corrigan’s decision to retain head coach Dave Doeren for a 14th season, the Wolfpack have seen many players depart, with others exploring their options elsewhere.

The Wolfpack closed out their campaign with an emphatic 42-19 victory over rival UNC Tar Heels, finishing their season with a respectable 7-5 record that earned them a Gasparilla Bowl invitation against Memphis. While their on-field performance has been impressive, the program faces many looming transfer portal decisions ahead of the new college football season.

Now, let’s take a look at the NC State football players who have already announced their decision to switch bases ahead of the upcoming transfer portal, which officially opens January 2 and runs through January 16.

    1) Hollywood Smothers (Running Back)

One of the biggest blows to the Wolfpack comes in the form of running back Hollywood Smothers, as he has confirmed plans to enter the portal when the window opens.

Smothers emerged as one of the ACC’s premier rushers this season, accumulating 939 yards while leading the conference with 85.4 yards per game, whilst also earning First Team All-Conference recognition.

    2) Josh Alexander-Felton (Defensive End)

DE Josh Alexander-Felton concludes his two-year tenure with the Wolfpack, having appeared in just three games as a freshman.

During his time playing with NC State, he had 25 snaps in the 2024 Military Bowl and a total of 39 snaps. This season, Felton made only four special teams appearances.

    3) Justin Terrell (Defensive Lineman)

Justin Terrell departs NC State after playing for two seasons for the Wolfpack. Terrell played in three games last year, accumulating 26 total snaps, including special teams duties. However, this past season, he didn’t appear in a single contest.

    4) Val Erickson (Offensive Lineman)

The North Carolina-based program’s offensive line also takes a hit with Val Erickson’s decision to enter the transfer portal.

After transferring from Missouri following a single season with the Tigers, Erickson spent two years with NC State, appearing in 14 games and accumulating 230 snaps overall.
