Warriors Trade Rumors Today: Insider Reveals Realistic Trade Package for Trey Murphy and Michael Porter Jr. in Bold Deadline Gamble

Ever since the mid-season trade period began, the Golden State Warriors have been in the limelight. With a 20-18 track record thus far this season, the team management might be looking to provide some serious help to their star guard, Stephen Curry, if they plan to make a title run.

As per reports, the Bay Area squad has shown its interest in Anthony Davis, who is up for an extension this summer with his team, the Dallas Mavericks. However, NBC Sports journalist Dalton Johnson, who covers the Warriors, has instead suggested some bold deadline gambles for the team to go forward in the mid-season trade.

Highlighting the team’s stance on acquiring a big star, Johnson said, “They don’t expect a Jimmy Butler-esque type of move.” Considering that, he suggested some other moves from the New Orleans Pelicans or the Brooklyn Nets, which might help the team achieve its purpose. Johnson said:

“Those are the two teams that have assets that the Warriors certainly would have their eyes on, someone like Trey Murphy from the Pelicans, someone like Michael Porter Jr.”

However, that’s easier said than done. The NBC Insider confirmed during the interview that, as per his sources, Trey Murphy could be worth “three first-round picks, plus Jonathan Kuminga, plus other players,” while Michael Porter Jr. could be “two first-round picks” and others. The team management has to weigh its options carefully and decide if acquiring new pieces is worth that cost.

How can someone like Trey Murphy or Michael Porter Jr. impact the Warriors’ season?

Adding assets like Trey Murphy or Michael Porter Jr. would surely be detrimental to the Golden State roster if it goes through. The Pelicans forward showed a different side of himself in the last game he played, dropping a career-high 42 points against the LA Lakers.

On the other hand, Porter Jr. has found a new light after joining the Nets. The Washington native is averaging a career-high 25.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists, and dropped 34 points in his last game against the Orlando Magic, though in a losing cause. The Warriors can surely use that kind of help on the offense.

Even though Steph is doing all he can to keep the team afloat, just above the .500, averaging 28.7 points with a 39.2% 3-point percentage, the Warriors are lurking in the eighth spot in a tight Western Conference. The team management would want to capitalize on this mid-season trade and make some crucial signings to steer their boat.
