Bam Adebayo sat beside his girlfriend A’ja Wilson for a few minutes during the delayed Miami Heat-Chicago Bulls game on Thursday. The hold up, which went for over an hour, was due to the United Center’s wet floor, an issue caused by the in-arena humidity. While some players hoisted up shots to remain ready, Adebayo interacted with Wilson, a video of which became viral.
Before Adebayo got up to resume warming up, he received a tap on the back of his knee from the WNBA superstar.
A fan reacted to the clip:
“She tried everything in her power not to slap his butt lol.”
One fan added:
“She gets on her nerves bad…and he loves it.”
Another fan continued:
“Obsessed.”
One fan reacted:
“IR (Pregnancy)”
Another fan wrote:
“Am I the only one thinks it’s crazy the mvp can’t spin a ball on her finger? Am I crazy?”
A’ja Wilson and Bam Adebayo often support each other during games. The Miami Heat star sat courtside when Wilson led the Las Vegas Aces to the 2025 WNBA championship in October. For her part, she sometimes cheers for Adebayo when the Heat are in Miami.
The over an hour-long delay put the spotlight on one of the NBA’s power couples. With fans looking for something to entertain them, the Adebayo-Wilson moment quickly stirred social media.
Bam Adebayo’s interaction with A’ja Wilson came a few minutes after Benny the Bull stole the limelight. The Chicago Bulls mascot drained a backwards half-court shot against Heat guard Tyler Herro, who ended up refusing to even attempt a shot.
Tristan Thompson predicts bright future for Bam Adebayo and A’ja Wilson’s future kid
With the delay in full effect, even “The Association” studio analysts covering the Heat-Bulls game started discussing side topics. When a potential kid from Bam Adebayo and A’ja Wilson came up, Tristan Thompson emphatically declared:
“That kid better be an NBA player. He better not be putting boxes up in FedEx. … This kid is gonna be a 7-footer, 100%! If he gets his mama’s talent and his dad’s toughness, one of the best of all time.”
In a December TIME interview with A’ja Wilson, she said that she sees a future having kids with Bam Adebayo. Only time will tell if the magazine’s 2025 Athlete of the Year will start creating a family this year with the NBA star. If that does happen, Thompson already predicts a bright future in basketball for that kid.
