Trae Young Trade Rumors: Bucks Urged To Pursue 4x All-Star For Surprising Giannis Antetokounmpo Reason

The Milwaukee Bucks are at crossroads and as per former NBA player Rashad McCants, the solution to their long-term stability could lie in a blockbuster trade for Trae Young. This isn’t just about roster depth but for the Bucks to prevent a total rebuild. In Theo Pinson’s To The Baha podcast, McCants argues that acquiring the 4x All-Star is the only definitive way to convince Giannis Antetokounmpo to stay in Milwaukee. He has said,

“This is my thing i think this is the only shot Milwaukee has to keep Giannis… if I’m Milwaukee I’m not letting this opportunity go not getting Trey Young because if Trey Young and Giannis on the same team in the East you could come out of the East for sure.” (22:14)

Perhaps, by pairing Young’s elite playmaking with Antetokounmpo’s interior dominance, the Bucks could instantly reclaim their spot as a premier threat in the East. Despite Young’s immense talent, the panel consisting of Theo Pinson, McCants, and Charlie Villanueva discussed how Young’s current trade value has plummeted, creating a unique buy-low opportunity. However, Rashad McCants insisted that Young has been unfairly scapegoated for the Hawks’ organizational struggles. He added,

“Trey Young is a bonafide guy like he can play at a very high level.”

Pinson and Villanueva stressed that standing still is not an option in the league’s current competitive landscape. Pinson specifically pushed for a Dallas Mavericks move, arguing the team must take a risk despite potential defensive gaps. At the end, the panel agreed that Trae Young is definitely one of those high-impact pieces capable of shifting the entire league’s power balance if he were to move to a contending team.

Paul Pierce Suggests Trae Young Should Be Paired Alongside Cooper Flagg

As per Shams Charania, both Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks are ready to move on and find a deal to trade the star despite Young’s massive $89 million contract. On that note, Paul Pierce came up with an interesting proposition to pair Young. On No Fouls Given podcast, Pierce proposed a blockbuster trade to swap Young for Kyrie Irving. Pierce noted that Young’s age fits the timeline for a developing team. Further such a trade would provide the Mavs with a true playmaker to assist in Cooper Flagg’s development. Pierce said,

“He’s still young… He’s good, he can manage them until they mature, and then figure it out. His contract will be up by time they mature, and then they can move on.”

This move is strategic for both sides. Atlanta would gain a respected veteran in Irving to pair with Jalen Johnson. On the other hand, Dallas could accelerate their financial flexibility. Trading for Young would allow the Mavs to clear their books by 2027, a timing that perfectly matches for the Mavs to pursue another star alongside Flagg. Whether Young becomes a long-term fixture or a bridge to the future, the deal addresses immediate needs for both sides.
