The OKC Thunder, led by reigning MVP Shai-Gilgeous Alexander and Jalen Williams, opened the 2026 season with a dream run of 24-1, matching the best starting 25-game record in the league. However, that run seemed to have struck a wall as the team has lost five games in the last 12. While Williams termed it a “normal human stretch,” fans did not seem happy with his sudden change in tone.
Earlier in the season, Williams was in the spotlight for his hot takes on the Thunder’s winning streak. He even claimed that the young roster could beat the 2017 Warriors and the 1995 Chicago Bulls. In the post-game media interaction, after their last win against the Utah Jazz, Jalen Williams was asked about the Thunder’s shaky 12-game stretch. He replied:
“This is like gonna sound cocky, but the last three years we win so much that when we have a normal human stretch of losing a game or two that we shouldn’t have the world freaks out.”
Fans were not pleased with the sudden drop in his confidence as they poured in with their reactions in the comment section. One fan pointed out Williams’ unfazed behavior, terming it “annoying”:
“”Losing a game or two” and they were 6-6 over 12 games. This cornball is so annoying.”
Another fan echoed the same feeling and said:
“He might be the most annoying player in the league”
One fan questioned the Thunder’s last season championship, saying:
“lol bro so cocky cause he won a championship against a injured pacers team i hope they never win a championship again”
Another said:
“Well yea guy, you guys were just talking about how the wins record was yours and now you look like the Wizards.”
One fan pointed out:
“What happened to beating all the historic champs. He back pedaling now”
Another simply opined:
“He is a loser”

While Jalen Williams’ statement did not sit well with fans, nobody can overlook Oklahoma City’s dominance in this and last season. Last season, the team broke the record for the highest scoring differential in the league. This season, the team has captured the top spot in the difficult Western Conference since its first game of the season.
Shai-Gilgeous Alexander and Jalen Williams lead the team to a thrilling OT win
After a rough patch, the OKC Thunder has found some relief after a thrilling overtime win over the Utah Jazz. The reigning MVP added another 40-point effort to reenergise the squad after back-to-back losses.
While SGA had a brilliant stat line of 45-6-6, Jalen Williams scored 17 points, with 8 assists and six rebounds. Chet Holmgren led the team in rebounds (12) and also scored some crucial buckets for the team, adding 23 points.
