Stephen Curry Makes Honest Admission As Cooper Flagg Breaks 55-Year-Old NBA Record

Cooper Flagg has lived up to his hype after an amazing freshman season with Duke. After Luka Doncic’s exit from the Dallas Mavericks,  Flagg was drafted as the first pick at the 2025 NBA Draft. The Mavs have been clear in their intentions of planning a team around their 19-year-old star. Flagg has had a Rookie of the Year-worthy season so far. He is certainly a candidate.

He is averaging 19.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. Flagg recently broke a 55-year-old NBA record, becoming the first rookie in NBA history to have a 25-5-5 statline on Christmas since Pete Maravich in 1970. Flagg had 27 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists in a 10-point loss to Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

Curry led the Warriors with 23 points, as the Warriors won 126-116 against Cooper Flagg’s Mavs. The Warriors have now gotten past .500 and have a 16-15 record. Flagg faced Curry for the first time in his NBA career. The two did cross paths when Flagg visited and trained at the Curry Camp.

Steph talked about Flagg and heaped praise on the Mavs rookie. It was Curry’s 12th Christmas Day game of his career, while Flagg was playing his first.

“Just a true hooper, competitor,” Steph said about Flagg. “You forget how young he is. Just his presence out there on the court so the future is bright. I’m glad he got this experience, his first [Christmas game]. Understand how the white lights feel like. The league is in good hands.”
