New reports have revealed disturbing details about the incident that led to former NBA guard Patrick Beverley’s arrest last week in Texas. According to the probable-cause affidavit, Beverley allegedly assaulted his teenage sister during a confrontation at their mother’s home.
The document describes a violent encounter in which he is accused of grabbing her by the neck with both hands, lifting her off the ground, and slamming her into the walls of the house. She also reported being punched in the eye and said she had trouble breathing during the incident.
The allegations have pushed the case into the spotlight and raised serious questions about what happened inside the home that night.
As per TMZ, Beverley “grabbed her [his sister] by her neck with both hands, and picked her up off the ground, by having her feet come up from the floor.”
Beverley was arrested in Fort Bend County on a felony assault charge involving a family or household member. He was taken into custody and released after posting a $40,000 bond. The timeline of the case began when officers responded to the home after the incident was reported.
Details from the affidavit were released shortly after Beverley’s arrest, providing the first public account of what allegedly took place. Once the documents became available, multiple outlets began reporting the contents, including the allegations of choking, the physical assault, and the threat described by the teenager.
What Authorities and Patrick Beverley Have Said So Far
As media coverage intensified, Beverley addressed the situation indirectly on social media. He urged fans not to take everything they read at face value and gave no further explanation. His legal team offered more clarity.

His attorney stated that Beverley has no prior criminal history and emphasized his role as an older brother who was concerned after finding his underage sister alone with an adult man late at night. The defense disputes the version of events outlined in the affidavit and intends to challenge the allegations in court.
“Patrick Beverley has no criminal record. He cares deeply about his little sister – a young lady, a minor,” Beverly’s attorney, Letitia Quinones-Hollins, said in a statement to TMZ. “Given that, when he unexpectedly found her alone in the home with an 18-year-old man in the middle of the night, he was understandably concerned, as any brother would be about his sister.”
They also stressed that they believe the situation has been framed inaccurately and look forward to presenting their side when proceedings begin.
