Russell Westbrook is finally finding his rhythm again since he started playing for the Sacramento Kings this season. He is averaging 14.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 7.1 assists while shooting 42.8 percent from the field. Russ is putting up great numbers and is the right kind of veteran the Kings need for their frontcourt. However, sometimes the past seems to haunt Westbrook in the worst manner possible.
On Sunday, Westbrook returned to Los Angeles, playing against his former team the Lakers at the Crypto.com Arena. Many already know that his stint with the Lakers wasn’t exactly a happy one. This time, one LA fan was able to get under Russ’ skin.
Westbrook has been constantly trolled for his bad shots and called ‘Westbrick’ since his time at LA. This was because of his inconsistent attempts from the deep and multiple air balls during his time at the Lakers, making the nickname attached to him.
Russ got into an altercation with a courtside fan who kept using the name to heckle the Kings star. During the final moments of the game, Russ confronted the fan and got him kicked out of the arena.

For long enough, Russ has always explained his disdain for fans heckling him. Specifically, he has been public about using such nicknames on him, which comes to affect his family in the long run. Russ’ actions on the court to deal with his heckler could be debatable. While some fans say he took a stand for himself, others argue that Russ might be “too sensitive” because of his reaction.
Russell Westbrook Had Dreams of Playing Football Growing Up
Russell Westbrook recently surpassed Magic Johnson to rank seventh in the all-time assists list. He reached this landmark on December 27th, playing against the Dallas Mavericks. However, speaking to the reporters, Westbrook revealed basketball was not something that he always wanted to play.
“I grew up wanting to play football,” Westbrook said. “I grew up playing football, taking a bus, going to the park, playing just being a normal kid in the city. And things happened so fast to me. I always knew if given the opportunity to be able to be somebody, I would take full advantage of it. That’s why every time I step on the floor, I don’t take anything for granted. I don’t take plays or anything for granted.”
Seems like basketball perhaps was one of the best decisions for Russ to follow through with. Westbrook also owns the record for most triple doubles, currently with 207 behind Oscar Robertson’s 181. He is inching closer to become the NBA’s top scoring point guard as well, surpassing Robertson. Russ currently has a career 27,871 career points, ranking him No. 16 in the all-time points scored list.
