Paul Pierce Sounds Off Over Disrespect Towards Jaylen Brown; Ranks Celtics Star Ahead Nikola Jokic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Jaylen Brown is one of the most in-form players in the NBA right now. In the absence of Jayson Tatum, Brown has been pretty much leading the Boston Celtics. He is averaging 30.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 5 assists in 32 games so far this season.

In his last five games, he has scored 50, 29, 23, 37, and 30 points, leading the Celtics to four wins in five games. The Celtics are comfortably third with a 22-12 record in the Eastern Conference and look like a serious contender.

However, he has not received the appreciation and respect he deserves for the season he is having. Many believe this has been the story of his career. He missed out on the sneaker deal, was almost left out of the Olympics squad, did not win Player of Eastern Conference, Player of the Month for December, and currently isn’t even in the MVP discussion. Celtics legend Paul Pierce has had enough of this disrespect.

“I’ve been saying this about Jaylen Brown for years now. I mean, there’s not a better two-way player. I said this about three or four years ago. He’s the best two-way player in the NBA. And now he’s been able to show his showcase his skills on a on a whole new level minus Jason Tatum. He’s showing you. I mean, is there any more player in the NBA the Rodney Dangerfield of the NBA? And what I mean by that, you know, Dangerfield, no respect,” Pierce said at 34:58.

“He’s not even in the MVP discussion. Now that Joker’s gone down, he’s probably going to be ineligible. Right now in my MVP rankings, SGA, Jaylen Brown one two. There you go. SGA, Jaylen Brown one two,” Pierce continued.

Paul Pierce Talks About ‘Disrespect’ Towards Celtics Players

In the same discussion, Paul Pierce claimed that the Celtics players have never gotten the deserved recognition. He recalled the year when he felt he should’ve won the MVP, but Tim Duncan did instead.

“I should have won it over Timmy that year, you know. So, I mean, he just continues. But I love it. You know what? Stop. Don’t give us nothing because for the simple fact that he didn’t get, that kept him on edge. And I like this type of Jaylen Brown on edge. Yeah, man. He’s not wrong. SGA, Jaylen like he had the best month at everybody and they’re winning. He played against a Clippers team that was red-hot. They won like four or five in a row. Kawhi’s been averaging 40-something as you can see those numbers. Him holding him to 22, James Harden 22. They beat him by 30. He(Brown) had 50,” Pierce said.

“Even before that they were playing well. And leading a Boston Celtics team that’s very much depleted from last year. Yeah. To be a top three seed in the East is I said he we talked about it last week. He should have been he should be an MVP conversation. He’s definitely top three even with Jokic. He should be and I had him over Jalen Brunson because of the expectation and he has less to work with,” he added.
