Can you imagine LeBron James and Stephen Curry as teammates? And that is not for Team USA in the next Olympics. NBA trade possibilities are wide open, giving two of the greatest ever a slight chance to team up. At least that’s what sports journalist Bill Simmons thinks.
The LA Lakers are clearly struggling with their recent form. Many believe that LeBron’s return from injury has somehow disrupted the team’s progress. Even head coach JJ Redick suggested that LeBron’s return has harmed the team, which they have to improve. In the most recent outburst, Redick called out the entire Lakers team, while admitting that their offense has been unorganized since James’ return.
The Golden State Warriors, on the other hand, have struggled to maintain their momentum. There has been an over-reliance on arguably their best player, Stephen Curry. However, even with Steph, the Warriors have not performed as Steve Kerr would have liked. Their season has see-sawed around the .500 mark. Many believe that Steph is not getting the help he needs. Kerr also made an honest admission about the Warriors being a fading dynasty. However, a LeBron-Steph team-up? Mouth-watering but highly unlikely.
“How do you make the league more fun? You have a team that nobody’s excited about with the Lakers and the team that feels dead with the Warriors. LeBron for Jimmy Butler? That’s it. It feels like a for good of the sport trade. Just more fun. The Warriors are not fun. I don’t see a scenario where they become fun. But now you put LeBron on the team with Curry. LeBron reinvigorated. And who knows then Butler is probably a better fit with Luka and Reaves anyway,” Simmons said.
He went on to claim that if the opportunity presents itself, the Warriors would be more than happy to bring LeBron in. On the other hand, the Lakers’ setup suits Jimmy Butler more than LeBron, according to Bill Simmons. He added:
“LeBron doesn’t really seem like he wants to be on the Lakers.”
