Comparing With Kobe Bryant, Stephen Curry, Michael Jordan, Kevin Durant, Ex-NBA Pro Talks About “Weight” On Jalen Brunson’s Shoulders

The New York Knicks made history as they won their first NBA Cup. This was the 3rd year for NBA Cup in existence. After LeBron James’ Lakers, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Milwaukee Bucks, Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns led New York Knicks to the NBA Cup win vs Victor Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs.

The Knicks last won a division title in 2013. They won their last conference title in 1999. And for their last NBA title we have to go back to the year 1973. So it had been some time since Knicks tasted some success.

The wait was over when Knicks won the NBA Cup vs San Antonio Spurs. Karl-Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson have been the two main players for the Knicks. Towns has been averaging 22.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists. Brunson averages impressive 28.8 points with 3.1 rebounds and 6.4 assists. However, ex-NBA pro Lou Williams thinks the weight on Brunson’s shoulder is too much.

“The Knicks have 50 years of zero rings. What is this? Jalen Brunson’s third or fourth year in New York? Yeah. Somewhere. You can’t put 50 years worth, It has nothing to do with him. It has nothing to do with him,” Williams said, while discussing the weight of responsibility on Brunson.

“So if that’s your gauge, then Kobe Bryant didn’t have a ring in his third year. Steph Curry third year. Kevin Durant third year. Michael Jordan, so on and so forth. You can go down the line. So you can’t put 50 years worth of history on Jalen Brunson’s shoulder. We live in this we live in this right now society. Instant results society. Sometimes we got to allow things to cook. We got to allow things to be patient,” Williams added.

Jalen Brunson has been in the league for eight years now, four years with the Dallas Mavericks and the last four with the New York Knicks. In that time, he has earned two All Star inclusions.

Fans React To Lou Williams’ Take On Weight On Jalen Brunson’s Shoulders

Fans did not agree much with Williams’ take about Brunson’s responsibilities.

“Brunson been in the league a lil longer than that,” one fan commented.

“Bron led the Heat in year 2 by this logic,” another said.

“Kobe had Shaq. Who was easily their best player,” one fan claimed.

“Brunson is not in his 3rd year tho,” another commented.

“Comparing those guys 4th year in THE LEAGUE…to Brunson’s 4th year in New York is an example of a WILDLY misleading take. This is his 8th year in the league, don’t intentionally leave that out so you can bring up HOFers,” one fan accused.
