JJ Redick Gets 100% Real On Negative Impact On Lakers After LeBron James’ Return From Injury

The holiday season has been rather disappointing for the Los Angeles Lakers so far. They have been on a three-game losing streak and will next be facing the Sacramento Kings on Sunday. While the team had started the 25/26 season on a solid note, the current fall from grace has been bothering many fans and even analysts. Finally, head coach JJ Redick confirmed what the actual reason was and it seems scary for most.

At the start of the season, Lakers superstar LeBron James was side-lined due to sciatica. While the team was performing well without James, there were concerns around the Lakers losing their balance after James’ return. Seems like that is actually something true.

LeBron James has been up to the mark with his stats. However, the team’s overall offense seems to be faltering. Earlier, Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves’ duo were pulling the strings for the Lakers to an impressive record. But JJ Redick’s admission in a recent press conference may suggest things have changed for the worse.

“Since we got Bron back, we haven’t been structured offensively…Too many random possessions… yeah, that’s on me,” said Redick.

Furthermore, JJ Redick also hinted at how James’ role might be re-evaluated. “It’s those three things. Defensive clarity, role clarity & offensive organization,” he added. It was obvious that he did not want to blame James in this matter but rather take the onus on himself. He will now be looking to work on this issue in the coming weeks as the Lakers seek to get their fire back.

Kwame Brown Shared The Harshest Criticism For LeBron James

Former NBA player Kwame Brown recently launched a scathing verbal attack on LeBron James and his agent, Rich Paul, labelling both of them as “weak weasels” and calling James a “weakling” and a “coward.” Brown’s frustration stems from what he perceives as a lack of leadership during a turbulent season for the Los Angeles Lakers. He specifically targeted the influence of James’ representation on team dynamics, stating,

“What I watched LeBron have his agent do.. just destroyed the team.”

The controversy was further fuelled by comments from Rich Paul on the Max Kellerman podcast, where he candidly assessed the Lakers’ current limitations. Paul remarked, “I personally don’t think the Lakers are good enough to be contenders, not right now,” citing a lack of athleticism, length, and speed. These public admissions of the team’s struggles served as the catalyst for Brown’s blunt assessment that James has failed to rise to the challenges expected of a player of his stature.

Despite the harsh criticism, the debate remains polarized as the Lakers grapple with injuries and inconsistent chemistry. While Brown argues that James’ influence has diminished, supporters point to his continued high-level statistical production amidst a “patchwork rotation.” Ultimately, Brown’s remarks underscore the intense scrutiny surrounding the franchise, reflecting a belief that “championship cultures” should handle adversity with more resilience than the current Lakers squad has shown.
