Jalen Green Drops F-Bomb On Live TV During Wild Celebration Of Collin Gillespie Breakout Game

By all accounts, Jalen Green is having a blast in his first season with the Phoenix Suns. Earlier this week, however, Green got carried away and said something that he might be regretting at this point.

After the Suns defeated the Washington Wizards 115-101 on Monday, Green’s teammate Collin Gillespie was invited to give a post-game interview on TV. As Gillespie got his moment in the spotlight, a few other Suns players decided to gatecrash his interview. Green was extra pumped as he spoke into the microphone:

“They can’t even f*** with you.”

Shocked by Green’s choice of words, Gillespie responded:

“Oh my God. On live TV, bro?”

Green, of course, had good reason to be thrilled that night. In 29 minutes of play, Gillespie finished with 25 points, four rebounds, and six assists. Only Dillon Brooks (26 points) scored more than the former Villanova star.

Ironically, Gillespie has gotten the chance to break out this season, as Jalen Green continues to be hounded by injuries in his first year with the Suns. On Monday, a lingering hamstring issue kept the former second overall pick out of commission.

While Jordan Ott and the rest of the Suns coaching staff would be happy to get their full roster on the court, they won’t be too bothered if Gillespie continues to be productive. They might, however, remind Green to keep his celebratory language PG.

League Slaps Fine on Jalen Green for Using Profanity During Live Broadcast

Had Jalen Green said his expletive-laden comment to Gillespie in the locker room, there would have been no issue to deal with. However, because the f-bomb was caught on live TV, Green could not go unscathed.

On Tuesday, the NBA announced that Green would be fined $25,000 for using profanity during the post-game TV coverage. This is hardly a surprise, as NBA players are expected to comply with a code of ethics that governs the way they speak and behave.

When Jalen Green eventually makes his return, though, he might consider letting his game do the talking.
