Is Jalen Brunson Playing Tomorrow? Latest Knicks Injury Report Ahead of the Game

The New York Knicks will face the Cleveland Cavaliers at Madison Square Garden on Christmas Day. However, a greater concern for fans is Jalen Brunson’s availability. In their last road game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Brunson sat out due to an ankle issue, and the Knicks lost 115-104. However, there seems to be a positive update as the Knicks return home to face the Cavs.

Jalen Brunson is currently suffering from a lingering right ankle injury, which held him out of Tuesday’s loss at Minnesota. However, according to the latest injury report on ESPN, he has been listed as ‘Day-to-Day’ and is expected to return to the lineup for the Christmas Day matchup. This would mean Tyler Kolek will return to the bench as the Knicks will continue to rely upon their starting lineup.

Brunson has been extremely productive so far for the Knicks, especially in December. Across nine outings, he has averaged 30.3 points, 7.2 assists, and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 49 percent from the field and 38 percent from deep.

The Knicks’ starting lineup is expected to feature Jalen Brunson at point guard, Josh Hart at shooting guard, Mikal Bridges at small forward, OG Anunoby at power forward, and Karl-Anthony Towns at center. As the Knicks head to this matchup against Cleveland, they stand 20-9 in the season and 14-2 on the home court.

Jalen Brunson Had An Explosive 47-Point Game Against The Heat

Jalen Brunson delivered a historic performance at Madison Square Garden last week, dropping a career-high 47 points and adding eight assists to lead the New York Knicks to a 132-125 victory over the Miami Heat. This offensive masterclass propelled the Knicks to a 20-8 record, firmly cementing their spot as the second seed in the Eastern Conference.

Beyond the immediate win, Brunson etched his name deeper into franchise lore by surpassing Carmelo Anthony for the most games with at least 45 points and five three-pointers, while also tying Bernard King’s legendary mark of eight 45-point regular-season games in a Knicks uniform.

Following the statement display, teammate Karl-Anthony Towns praised Brunson’s reliability, calling him a “special player” and noting that the team’s ability to win in various ways is a strong indicator of postseason success.

The victory was a collective effort, with Mikal Bridges contributing 24 points and Josh Hart securing a double-double, showcasing the depth that complements Brunson’s scoring. Even Heat coach Erik Spoelstra acknowledged Brunson’s elite mentality, describing him as an “incredible competitor” who requires an opponent to go “above and beyond” just to stay in the game.
