The Denver Nuggets were in incredible form in the first two months of the regular season, boasting a 20-6 record by Dec. 18. However, their momentum has slowed significantly since then, mainly because of a growing injury list. Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon, Christian Braun, Cameron Johnson, and several others have all missed time, leading to a disappointing 4-6 record over the last 10 games.
Things look even more uncertain heading into their matchup with the Celtics. Jamal Murray, Tim Hardaway Jr., Jonas Valanciunas, and Tamar Bates are all listed on the injury report, leaving Denver severely shorthanded.
Boston, meanwhile, continues to shock the league in Jayson Tatum’s season-long absence. Jaylen Brown and co. finished December with a strong 9-3 run and have opened the new calendar year with three straight wins. This surge has catapulted the Celtics past the New York Knicks into second place in the Eastern Conference, now sitting at 23-12.
