After a tough outing against the OKC Thunder on Friday, the Golden State Warriors got back on the win column Saturday with a hard-fought 123-114 victory over the Utah Jazz. What changed? Steph Curry returned to the lineup after missing the previous game with an ankle injury.
Curry put up 31 points in the win and shot 8 of 18 from the floor. He was especially efficient from the 3-point line and converted six of his 12 attempts. After the game, the four-time champion mic’d up for an on-court interview with NBC Sports Bay Area, where he was asked about the Bill Kennedy challenges in the game. Curry replied:
“This is my favorite thing. … I told him he needed to take a bow after those three challenges and knowing that he didn’t have another chance at the mic he should bow to the whole crowd because he put on a great show.”

For those who are unaware, Kennedy is a long-time NBA referee who has gone viral for the way he announces the results of coaches’ challenges. It has become a talking point on live broadcasts, social media, among players and even coaches.
If Boston Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla is to be believed, he made a challenge Thursday just to hear Billy Kennedy. He said:
“He does a really great challenge and we’re gonna do it anyway just to hear him deliver the challenge.”
Steph Curry And Warriors Win Despite Draymond Green’s Ejection
Golden State coach Steve Kerr rested Draymond Green on Friday so that he could stay fresh for Saturday’s game. In hindsight, it seems like a futile exercise, as Green was ejected in the first half against the Utah Jazz.
Green was infuriated with an alleged missed three-second call against Kyle Filipowski on the defensive end and repeatedly shouted three seconds to bring the violation to the referees’ notice. Things escalated after the play ended in a dunk for Lauri Markkanen.
After the former Defensive Player of the Year was given a technical for his outburst, he didn’t hold back and continued arguing with referee Kevin Cutler, which resulted in a second technical and automatic ejection.
Such behavior from Draymond Green is nothing new, and this likely won’t be the last. However, just because Steph Curry was there to save the day against Utah, it doesn’t mean it will happen consistently. The Warriors need Green on the floor, and for that, he needs to control his emotions.
