Cooper Flagg ‘Outplaying’ Nikola Jokic, Say Fans, as Mavs Put on a Show

Cooper Flagg takes center stage in the ongoing matchup between his Dallas Mavericks and the Denver Nuggets at American Airlines Center. Mavericks’ first overall pick is putting on a show out there, even belittling two-time Nikola Jokic, according to some fans.

With 9:18 minutes remaining in the game, Flagg has already put up 28 points to go along with nine rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block. Meanwhile, Jokic, troubled by Flagg on the floor, has managed to score 23 points to go along with seven rebounds and 12 assists. He has also forced turnovers twice.

Fans chimed in on the thrilling contest between Flagg and two-time MVP.

“Still has two years until he can legally drink and is outplaying a 2x MVP btw,” one fan commented.

“Came to see Jokic and the Nuggets and Cooper Flagg is putting on a first half show. Impressive start from him,” another fan added.

“XOOGER FLAGG OWN JOKIC,” one fan reacted.

“Cooper Flagg is cooking Jokic in month 3,” one fan posted.

“cooper flagg is FRYING the nuggets & jokic , hasn’t missed a shot and has 17 in 11 minutes!!” one fan wrote.

Previous Showdown Between Nikola Jokic and Cooper Flagg

Earlier this month, when the two sides met, both Nikola Jokic and Cooper Flagg put on a show. However, Anthony Davis-led Mavericks defeated the Nuggets, who, despite the 41-27 start in the game, couldn’t emerge victorious in the end.

Flagg scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Jokic posted a triple-double with 29 points, 20 rebounds, and 13 assists. Davis led the Mavs with 32 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, one steal and two blocks in the win.

In 2025, Flagg is averaging 18.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists while shooting 47.8% from the floor. The Mavs rookie is already breaking NBA records for his age. He became the youngest player in league history with 40+ points in a game (42).

It remains to be seen whether he can carry Mavs to a respectable record alongside Anthony Davis as the franchise awaits the return of superstar guard Kyrie Irving later in the season.
