Christian Wood’s Ex Yasmine Lopez to File Defamation Case as She ‘Sick and Tired’ of ‘Deeply Concerning’ False Allegations Harming Their Child

Former NBA forward Christian Wood’s ex-girlfriend Yasmine Lopez has threatened to file a defamation lawsuit against him. Wood filed a petition for a restraining order against Lopez in November, alleging that an attempted break-in at his home on Nov. 5 was part of a murder-for-hire plot by his ex.

On Wednesday, Lopez vehemently denied being involved in any such plan, posting on her Instagram story about how the allegations against her are false and threatened legal action.

“I categorically deny any involvement in the allegations made against me,” Lopez wrote. “Making false allegations against the mother of one’s child, without evidence, is completely unacceptable. I will be pursuing legal allegations against Mr. Wood for defamation of character.”

She continued, expressing that she was “sick and tired” of the allegations, citing the mental state of her and Wood’s child.

“This behaviour is deeply troubling,” Lopez wrote. “Making my life a living h*ll? Ok, but my innocent child? … Despite everything that has happened, all the lies. I want my child to have a happy and healthy relationship with his father. I fully support joint custody and have no desire to seek financial support.”

Christian Wood was in the NBA for eight seasons, playing for the Philadelphia 76ers, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, New Orleans Pelicans, Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and LA Lakers. He played 339 games, averaging 13.6 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.

Court sets date to hear Christian Wood and his ex Yasmine Lopez’s case

In his court filing from November, Christian Woods cited his ex’s “strange” behaviour related to scheduling, leading up to the attack against him.

“Ms. Lopez’s decision to keep our son away from me now stands out as alarming to me, given what occurred the very next day,” Woods stated in his filing.

He also pointed towards Lopez’s social media, citing her sharing King Von’s song as “suspicious.”

“The lyrics of the song explicitly describe a murder for hire and retaliation killing,” Wood noted. “This post was highly unusual for Ms. Lopez, suspicious in timing, and deeply disturbing given what happened shortly after.”

Yasmine Lopez has maintained that she had no knowledge of the events until after they happened. She has also hit back at Wood, describing violent incidents in her own filing. The court has now set a date for Jan. 14 to hear out both sides.
