LeBron James has been out of action so far this season. This is the first time in his 23-year career that he has missed the opening day of the NBA. In this time, the Lakers have managed to pull their weight as Luka Doncic is having one of the best campaigns of his career.
Lakers head coach JJ Redick has done a commendable job building a strong squad in the past year. The former player started his coaching stint in Los Angeles in 2024. When he got the job, he was not the obvious choice, but he has taken the team forward. However, Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch recently made a snide comment about Redick as a coach and the Lakers’ coaching qualifications.
“I bet three-quarters of these people are gonna go home and do a podcast tonight, you know. I mean, it will qualify you to coach the Lakers,” Finch’s jab at Lakers HC JJ Redick drew laughter from the audience on ‘The Zach Lowe Show.’

JJ Redick was the first active NBA player to start a podcast. In 2016, Redick announced the start of his show with Yahoo! Sports. He did not get any pushback from the organizations for his new venture. On the contrary, players and coaches encouraged the show.
Fans React to Chris Finch’s Jab at Lakers’ HC JJ Redick
Fans backed JJ Redick after the Timberwolves coach’s comments.
“I mean JJ has been a pretty solid coach,” one fan said.
“Lakers beat Wolves 2 times this season already,” one fan remembered.
“Can say whatever he wants after belting them in the playoffs,” one fan recalled last season’s matchup.
“Definitely not being a 10+ year NBA veteran,” another fan said.
“Bro got injured on the bench as a coach,” another replied.
“Legendary burn,” one fan claimed.

The Timberwolves have a record of 7-4 this season. Finch’s team has recently found form with a three-game winning streak. The Lakers, on the other hand, are being led by Luka Doncic. He is averaging over 30 points per game, and the Lakers are 8-4 this season.
