Anthony Edwards’ And Timberwolves HC Chris Finch Suffers $35K Setback After On-Court Fiasco With Refs

Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch was recently fined $35,000 for “directing inappropriate language toward game officials and failing to leave the court in a timely manner following his ejection,” by the NBA. This happened during the Timberwolves’ matchup with the OKC Thunder, with less than six minutes remaining in Minnesota’s 112-107 win over the Thunder.

The frustration boiled over following consecutive no-calls on stars Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle, leading Finch to storm onto the court to confront the crew. Even after being tossed, Finch had to be restrained by four staffers as he continued to vent his discontent, eventually exiting to cheers from a Minnesota crowd that shared his frustration with the whistles.

The high-stakes matchup featured a growing rivalry, as the reigning NBA champion Thunder previously eliminated the Timberwolves in last season’s Western Conference Finals. Despite the loss, Oklahoma City remains historically dominant with a 25-3 record and an unprecedented average scoring margin of +16.9 points.

While the Thunder have faced league-wide criticism for receiving favorable officiating during their recent run, this physical clash highlighted the rising tension between the two Western Conference heavyweights.

Anthony Edwards Trolls Shai Gilgeous-Alexander On His Burner Account

After winning against the OKC Thunder, Anthony Edwards had some game up his sleeve for his fans on the internet with a viral jab at Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. After dominating the final minute with a step-back three and a game-sealing block and steal against SGA, Edwards shared a screenshot of a missed FaceTime call from the Thunder star on his burner account. He captioned the post, “Ima hit you back when the highlights finish uploading,” a perfectly timed dig that instantly blew up online.

The exchange added another chapter to the burgeoning rivalry between the two stars, which extends beyond the court to their respective roles as faces of Adidas and Converse. Despite SGA’s impressive 35-point performance, Edwards’ late-game heroics and his subsequent refusal to back down from critics like Kendrick Perkins cemented the night as a major victory for his “fearless mentality.”
