Anthony Davis Trade Rumors: Mavs Star’s Camp Privately Pushing for Deadline Move as Agent Sends Clear Signal

The speculation around Anthony Davis’ next destination has been growing as the midseason trade deadline draws closer. Several teams have shown their interest in the Dallas Mavericks forward, including the Golden State Warriors. As per the latest update, AD’s agent has clarified that both sides were pushing for a trade before the deadline.

Talking on the NBA on ESPN‘s YouTube channel, Tim MacMohan discussed Davis’ manager Rich Paul’s stance on the trade situation and said:

“AD’s agent is reading the situation and saying: ‘Hey, it’s in my client’s best interest to get traded before this deadline.’ So I do believe there is going to come a push from that side… But, you know, again — the preference is comfort. The priority is getting paid again.”

While the Warriors have been rumored to pursue Davis, the prospects of the deal going through are feeble, as the Warriors’ management has shown its reluctance to include Draymond Green or Jimmy Butler in the package. However, a new team has been rumored to be pursuing Anthony Davis before the deadline.

“Atlanta Hawks are going to pursue Anthony Davis,” Shams Charania on AD trade

Since the Atlanta Hawks announced their decision to release Trae Young, the team management has been looking for a new face of the franchise. Anthony Davis can be their missing piece of the puzzle if they look to make a playoff run.

As per an update from ESPN’s NBA analyst Shams Charania, the Hawks were looking to pursue Davis as they have the space to accommodate his salary after releasing Young. Giving an update on Davis’ probable next team, the analyst said:

“This Trae Young deal sets the Atlanta Hawks with additional financial flexibility to be active on the trade front to land another big name player…and that being Anthony Davis in the season. They are going to pursue AD as the prime trade target with the Mavs.”

Though the Anthony Davis-Cooper Flagg duo looked exciting at the beginning, that has not translated into wins for the team. The Mavericks have lost seven of their last 10 games, with a 14-24 record, thus far.

While Flagg seemed to be facing a “rookie wall,” with a performance drop in the last few games, AD has been at the forefront of whatever the team has gained, as he leads them in points (20.4) and rebounds (11.1).
