After Reports of Inducing Possible Injury to Anthony Davis, Nico Harrison’s Dirt About Luka Doncic Gets Out

The situation inside the Dallas Mavericks organization has become even more chaotic as new details continue to surface regarding Anthony Davis and Luka Doncic. Recent reports state that Nico Harrison pushed for Davis to return to the court earlier than recommended while the star forward was dealing with a calf injury.

Team medical personnel reportedly rejected that idea completely. Their position was that playing too soon could create a real risk of an Achilles rupture. The internal disagreement added to the tension already surrounding AD’s availability and the larger issues facing the franchise.

More problems emerged when discussions turned to the handling of AD’s personal medical team. According to Tim MacMahon on Howdy Partners, Davis’ private medical staff, who were placed on the Mavericks’ payroll, cleared him to play.

The same level of access, influence, and organizational integration was never given to Luka Doncic’s medical team during his time in Dallas.

“AD is hurt right now. He thinks he’s healthy. AD’s personal medical staff, who is on the Mavericks’ payroll…something that was never done with Luka’s medical staff, they have cleared him,” MacMahon said. (From 8:11)

The idea that Dallas allowed Davis’ personal group to operate with team-level authority while maintaining a stricter approach with Doncic added a deeper layer to the story. It created an impression that player hierarchy, internal politics, and front-office relationships influenced medical and performance decisions.

For Davis, the issue is especially concerning. He is currently sidelined, though he reportedly believes he is healthy enough to play. The conflicting assessments between the team’s medical professionals and his private staff show how fractured the decision-making structure has become.

    Dallas Mavericks Fired Nico Harrison

Harrison was removed from his role as general manager after the organization faced intense pressure from fans, media, and internal stakeholders. The Mavericks struggled on the court, but the real strain came from the environment behind the scenes.

The shocking decision to trade Luka Doncic had already fractured trust between the front office and the fan base. Every Mavs game was marked by “Fire Nico” chants from the fans. The team’s poor start only intensified the scrutiny.

With fan frustration rising and the team drifting, ownership decided to make a leadership change. The franchise now enters a reset phase, with the focus on rebuilding credibility and restoring stability after months of turmoil.

Even though they have a very capable roster if they’re not injured, the Mavs are headed toward one of the worst stretches in franchise history. Their current 3-9 record and 14th position in the West is only the beginning.
