It’s the National Signing Day, the day when colleges finally secure from freshman recruits so they would theoretically not get flipped anymore. Of course, some schools had much better signing days than others, so which ones had the best, and which ones did not do too well?

3 Big National Signing Day Winners
USC
Perhaps the biggest winner of National Signing Day, USC has signed several big names in high school football, including getting Kayden Dixon-Wyatt to choose the Trojans over Ohio State, as well as five-star offensive tackle Keenyi Pepe.
As the day ended, Trojans managed to sign six top-100 players, as well as seven of the top 25 recruits in California, getting the No. 1 class for 2026 so far.
Oregon
Dan Lanning’s Oregon is known to have a lot of boosters, and it showed as the Dicks got the No. 2 recruiting class so far, including getting five-star edge rusher Anthony Jones and five-star interior lineman Immanuel Iheanacho to sign with the Ducks.
North Carolina
While this is not really one of the biggest winners, North Carolina actually did well in a rare W. Bill Belichick showed that, despite the dismal debut season as a college coach, his name is still enough to attract recruits.
This includes him signing four-star quarterback Travis Burgess, a Top 10 QB from the Class of 2026, as well as over 40 new players wanting to play under a coach who has won six Super Bowls. The question now is, will he be able to improve upon this current season’s dismal record with his new recruits?
3 Big National Signing Day Losers
Ole Miss
The fallout from Lane Kiffin’s abrupt exit from Ole Miss continues as the Rebels have lost several possible recruits, including four-star wide receiver Corey Barber, who decommitted from Ole Miss to go to LSU, where Kiffin is. They usually have a Top 25 class, but after Kiffin left, they fell to No. 34.
Ohio State
Being the No. 1 team in the country would usually mean that the Buckeyes would have a lot of high school players wanting to get recruited by them, but several big-time prospects actually chose other schools over them, and one of their top targets, five-star freshman Chris Henry Jr., has confirmed he has not yet signed.
Penn State
The Nittany Lions’ firing of James Franklin has affected this team a lot, as he took several staff members with him, along with some top prospects, including four-star running back Messiah Mickens. Oh, and they still do not have a head coach yet and have lost candidate after candidate to other schools.
