NASCAR legend Mark Martin comments on Mick Schumacher’s ‘first pit stop’ ahead of IndyCar debut with RLL Racing

NASCAR legend Mark Martin commented on Mick Schumacher’s first pit-stop practice of the 2026 season. The 26-year-old IndyCar Series debutant is all set to transition from Formula 1 and the World Endurance Championship to full-time American open-wheel racing.

As per reports, Schumacher will drive the No. 47 Dallara-Honda for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing in 2026. On that note, the team recently took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and posted a video where Schumacher was perfecting his pit stops in the RLL Racing machine.

Mark Martin reshared the video with the following comment:

“This season is going to be exciting to watch Mick and his progress @IndyCar.”

Mick Schumacher, the son of seven-time Formula One World Drivers’ Champion Michael Schumacher and equestrian Corinna Betsch, previously competed in F1 under the banner of the Haas F1 Team and in the World Endurance Championship for Alpine F1.

This year, Schumacher will enter the 17-race full-time for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing and thus compete in his first oval races, including the prestigious Indianapolis 500 on May 24, 2026.

“I am delighted to confirm today that I will be competing in the INDYCAR SERIES next year with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, taking part in the full season,” Schumacher said in a statement. “Having both an F1 and an endurance background, and having competed in various racing series over the years, I have insights and knowledge that I am sure will contribute to a great partnership.”

Mark Martin, who competed in NASCAR from 1981 to 2013, has amassed 40 Cup Series wins and a total of 96 trips to victory lane across NASCAR’s national series. He is often regarded as the best NASCAR driver to never win a championship. But he did finish second in championship standings five times, tying with Richard Petty and Bobby Allison.

Mark Martin is all set to launch his new NASCAR podcast

Following in the footsteps of NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. and former Xfinity Series driver Kenny Wallace, Mark Martin has finally launched the first episode of his new NASCAR podcast, named the Mark Martin Archive Podcast. Martin’s son, Matt, was also seen in the video.

Here is a clip of the same, as uploaded on X. By all means, it’s all thanks to Kenny Wallace Media, the official partner of the new show.

“In four short years, we have really grown,” Mark Martin said in the video. “Charlie Marlow and myself are very proud to bring you our newest show on the Kenny Wallace Media Platform. Here it is!”

“We’re going to talk about old stories, old racing, very historical stuff, not only with me but a little bit with others, but also talk about our book and a little bit about current events as well,” he added.

For now, all eyes are on the 68th running of the annual Daytona 500, which is scheduled for February 15, 2026. Fans can watch the crown jewel event live on FOX (starting at 2:30 pm ET) or listen to live radio updates on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
