Brexton Busch Blunt Advice for Dad Kyle Busch After Watching His Tulsa Shootout Heat Race

Brexton Busch offered a piece of friendly advice after watching Kyle Busch race in an A-Class heat at the Tulsa Shootout. The 10-year-old told his dad to “run higher” after Kyle climbed from tenth to third in his heat on December 31

The 2026 Tulsa Shootout attracted a massive field of about 2,000 entries this time. Kyle and his son both entered the Winged Outlaw division. Brexton is also entered in Restricted A-Class, Winged A-Class, and Stock Non-Wing divisions. Ahead of their Winged Outlaw Race 182, Brexton responded to a question about Kyle Busch’s race results and said:

    Run Higher.”

Meanwhile, the two-time NASCAR Cup champion also had some things to say ahead of their race together.

“Obviously he’ll be starting in front of me, so hopefully we can make some ground and, you know, get some passing points out of our heat,” Kyle Busch said during an interview with Flo Racing (00:13 onwards).

Brexton collected his first Golden Driller trophy in the Junior Sprint division last year. He led flag-to-flag in the 20-lap A-Main and held off a strong field to take the top spot at Tulsa Expo Raceway in Oklahoma. But Kyle has yet to add to the family collection.

Kyle and Brexton Busch have faced off a few times on dirt. In March of last year, they raced in the 600cc Winged Micros class at Millbridge Speedway, where Kyle started sixth and finished third. Brexton started seventh and finished sixth against a 20-car field in the 20-lap feature. But competed in the Winged A-Class for the first time during the 41st annual Hyper Racing Tulsa Shootout.

During the same Flo Raving interview, Brexton talked about racing against Kyle on the bigger stage.

“I’m definitely excited to be able to race him here because this is the biggest race, and hopefully I can go five to one,” Brexton Bush said (00:50 onwards).

The father-son duo competed in the Winged Outlaw 182 Heat race on Wednesday, December 31, where Brexton started in fifth place and finished third. Kyle rolled off seven place and ended the day one spot behind in fourth place.

Kyle also has plans to move Brexton Bush all the way up the ladder to the NASCAR Cup Series one day. He mentioned getting him experienced through sprint cars, ARCA, trucks and the O’Reilly (Xfinity) Series to reach the ultimate goal.

Meanwhile, the Richard Childress Racing driver has not yet announced any plans to extend his dirt racing schedule and compete in the Chili Bowl Nationals, where he made his debut last year. NASCAR Cup drivers and three-time Chili Bowl champions Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell have entered the event ahead of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season.
