As the 2025 NFL Draft is now just a mere weeks away, mock drafts are heating up more than ever. One of the latest mocks from Yahoo! Sports has one of the top quarterbacks in the class, Shedeur Sanders, now leaving the Top 20, and this Super Bowl Champion loves the matchup.
Sanders has quickly established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in this NFL Draft class. However, that may not be saying much, as this could be one of the weakest quarterback classes in recent memory, aside from Sanders, Cam Ward, and maybe Jaxson Dart.

Mock Leaves Shedeur Sanders Outside Top 20, Super Bowl Champ Loves The Matchup
According to Yahoo! Sports’ latest mock draft, Sanders is now projected to be picked at No. 21 by the Pittsburgh Steelers. If Sanders should actually drop to No. 21, this would be a match made in heaven for Pittsburgh, especially since Pittsburgh’s quarterback position has been stuck in limbo.
Aaron Rodgers may still sign well with Pittsburgh, but he’s taking his sweet time deciding that. Currently, the Steelers have Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson under contract. Neither are long-term options, and neither is better than a backup.
Sanders would give the Steelers someone who has the potential to be their best option on the roster immediately. Regardless of what happens with Aaron Rodgers, the Steelers could very well be in the quarterback market in the 2025 NFL Draft. According to Super Bowl Champion Greg Jennings, Sanders would fit like a glove in the Pittsburgh organization.
“Culture-wise, stability, this would be an ideal situation,” Jennings said recently on FS1’s First Things First. “I know some might question, ‘Well, what have the Steelers been able to do when they get quarterbacks? They haven’t blossomed their quarterback picks as of late?’…”
“…However, Shedeur, if he can start, you want him to start; he would be starting with great weapons with what they currently have. George Pickens on one side, DK Metcalf; you’ve got a solid running game. You’ve got some veteran leadership with the offensive line. You have a culture that understands how to win. They just haven’t won in most meaningful football games.”

Sanders is a very polarizing player. In a way, he’s a callback to old players. He’s tough as nails, accurate, and can distribute the ball to any part of the field. He has an energy and aura about him that his teammates will gravitate towards. Overall, he will be an excellent pick for whoever lands him. For Pittsburgh’s sake, they hope he drops to No. 21 in the NFL Draft.
